A ‘green’ motorcycle?

By Michael Henry on

Over the last few days, I have been talking with the folks at Brammo on Twitter (@BrammoCraig) and via email about their 100% electric motorcycles. Yes, you read that correctly. You see, the folks at Brammo have come up with a way to eliminate the combustion engine from a motorcycle and build a green motorcycle.

The Enertia has a top speed of 60 mph and a range of 42 on a single charge. It is available in 5 colors and can be picked up at Best Buy, or Best Buy will ship your Enertia to any of the 48 contiguous states. Craig made an excellent point in this video, stating that you could commute to work, plug it in and have the full 42 mile range available for the ride home. The Enertia sells for $7995.

The Empulse is available for pre-order and has a little better range. It is capable of 100mph and comes in three models – the 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0. The prices are $9995, $11,995 and $13,995, respectively. The 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 also have other meanings. They are the ranges for each bike. These models are capable of 60, 80 and 100 mile ranges.

Brammo’s site has some really cool features like a Carbon calculator and an interactive area to build your own Brammo motorcycle. They are looking for dealers on the East Coast that would be interested in selling these machines in this part of the country. So, if you are a dealer, or know of one that would be interested, please let me know and I will pass it along to them. I would love to see these bikes in our area.

What do you think? Would you put one of these bikes in your garage? Why? Why not? I definitely would.
