A few weeks ago, we did our second Poker Run. This year’s run was to raise money to donate to the Ronald McDonald house in memory of Casey Lynn Gamblin. Casey Lynn was the daughter of one of our members, and she lost her battle to Optic Nerve Cancer last year.
Thanks to the hard work of our organizer, Patti, and a large number of our members, we had a fantastic day. The weather was perfect, and the ride went off without a hitch. We couldn’t have asked for a better day.
After all of the expenses were paid (catering, pizza at our stop, the band, etc) we are going to be donating $5447 to the Ronald McDonald house. I think that is pretty amazing. I am glad that I was able to be a part of this event, and even happier that we raised so much money for such a great organization.
Casey Lynn and her mother stayed at the Ronald McDonald house in New York City when she was down for treatments. Her mother told us that the hospitality and accommodations were out of this world and very affordable, thanks to the donations they receive.
The pictures at the top of this blog are pictures I took at the Poker Run. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Thanks for putting up with my constant pimping of this event. It’s very important to me, and now you don’t have to hear much about it for another year.
