A few months ago Bikers Report covered a creative bike building class at Riverview Middle School in New Brunswick, Canada. We checked back with Bike Klub to see what they were up to lately. The club founder, Marc “Mazz” Mazerolle, high school teacher and an IMBBA certified bike builder level II, told us that Bike Klub is in the finishing stages of their current project, it’s a Bobber/Tracker built using a 1969 BSA 650 Lightning engine and two 21 inch Avon Speedmasters. Her name is “A Voodoo Woman Named Phyllis”. We think she looks pretty cool!
Bike Klub was started by High School Teacher, Marc “Mazz” Mazerolle in the Fall of 2004.
Bike Klub is an after-school youth program, that is geared towards, but not exclusive too, “At Risk” and “Introvert” students in the Greater Moncton Area of the Canadian province of New Brunswick, located on the east coast of Canada.
Since they are “after-school”, the Bike Klub receives no funding from the school system, provincial or federal governments, they depend on what little funds the kids can raise and the generosity of their incredible local sponsors like Mr. David Armstrong, Moncton Honda, JayBrake, SuperTrapp, The International Master Bike Builders Association, B’Cool Products, Troy Fab, Riverview Tire Service, Price Plumbing and Ralph’s Auto Service.
The Bike Klub could use your help…donate new or used parts, tools, paint, and well, you know… the stuff they need to build or finish a bike!
Check out more info on the program, pics of their last builds, awards they have won…and remember to respect these young bike builders when you do…thanks! http://www.bmhsbikeclub.zoomshare.com/0.html
If you would like to contact the Bike Klub, you could email, the club manager, Marc Mazerolle: firstname.lastname@example.org or you can call him at home during the summer months: 506-856-6014, remember it’s Atlantic time which is, for those of you in the U.S, an hour later than New York City time.
Keep the shiny side up!
