James Stewart Fails Drug Test
Following a second-place finish Seattle Supercross on April 12, 2014, Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart was administered a drug test by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency).
And on Friday, Yoshimura reported that “Bubba” Stewart had failed the drug test. The test, which was received by Stewart on June 17, showed a positive result for a substance on the WADA 2014 prohibited list.
Yoshimura reports that the medication in question is and has been “prescribed to Stewart by his physician to treat a long-term condition.”
Stewart and his team are now communicating with WADA to resolve the matter ahead of the next round of the Lucas Oil Motocross season – the Tennessee National in Blountville, Tenn., on June 28, 2014.
After four of 12 rounds, Stewart is third in the standings with 161 points, six behind Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, and 22 behind Dungey’s teammate Ken Roczen. He took the overall win at last weekend’s High Point Motocross with a 1-1 finish. The two-time AMA Supercross Champion finished fourth overall in 2014 SX.
