This very finished-looking turbocharged parallel twin engine was on display in Suzuki’s area at the Tokyo Motor Show, and all signs are pointing to the powerplant being used in the production version of the Recursion likely coming out soon.
Suzuki had a very finished-looking turbocharged parallel twin-cylinder engine on display at the Tokyo Motor Show, which looks like it will be the engine used in what we hear will be the production version of the “Recursion” concept bike that originally made its appearance at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. No information was available other than the engine’s “XE7” nomenclature, but its overall architecture looks very similar to what was originally thought to be a mockup powerplant used in the Recursion (apparently that concept bike was closer to reality than we thought). Suzuki claimed back then that the 588cc engine would be good for 100 hp @ 8,000 rpm and 75 ft/lb of torque at 4,500 rpm, so if this is indeed the engine, those are pretty impressive power figures from such a small displacement twin.
Suzuki revealed its “Recursion” concept bike at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, with what was said to be a 588cc twin-cylinder engine pumping out 100 hp and 75 ft/lb of torque. Judging from the engine that was on display at the Tokyo Motor Show, as well as reports of Suzuki taking out trademarks on the Recursion name and patents showing the turbocharged engine, it appears that the bike will soon be in production.
