Munich (DE), 6th July 2016. It is another impressive number: the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy continues to grow from year to year. For 2016 no less than 129 BMW racers have registered their participation – a new record. There has been also a change in the top positions: Chilean Maximilian Scheib improved to second courtesy of another win in the FIM CEV Superbike European Championship (CEV). This was one of the many strong results the BMW S 1000 riders, supported by BMW Motorrad Motorsport, achieved last weekend. There were also wins and podiums in the French Superbike Championship (FSBK), the French European Bikes Championship (FR EU) and the Italian Superbike Championship (CIV).

The classification is still led by Michal Prášek (CZ / AARR STK) with 262.00 Race Trophy points. New in second place is Chilean Maximilian Scheib with 198.80 points. Scheib celebrated his second win of the season last weekend in the FIM CEV Superbike European Championship (CEV). He is closely followed by Isle of Man winner Ian Hutchinson (GB) in third, who has collected 198.50 points in the BMW Combined Road Race Challenge (BMW RRC) so far this season (see full standings below).
The registration period for the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy has closed – and this year brought new record numbers. After the successful first two years with 69 and 104 participants respectively, the Race Trophy has continued to grow in 2016. This season no less than 129 BMW racers are taking part. They come from 25 different countries on six continents and race for 82 teams in 27 different championship classes worldwide.
