The Oklahoma City Mile is one of the riders’ favorite stops of the American Flat Track season. A wide, mile-long horse track with great grooming lets racers really hang it out, get creative with their lines and stretch their throttle cables. Can anyone bring the fight to Indian’s Jared Mees in the AFT Twins class? And can Shayna Texter repeat another win here in the AFT Singles?
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 12, 2018) – No doubt about it… domination and heartbreak were on full display at last year’s OKC Mile presented by Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City.
The domination came from Indian Motorcycle’s Jared Mees (No. 1 Indian Motorcycle Rogers Racing SDI Scout FTR750) and his ‘Wrecking Crew’ teammates, the trio of Mees, Bryan Smith (No. 4 Indian Motorcycle Racing backed by Allstate Scout FTR750) and Brad Baker (No. 6 Indian Motorcycle Racing backed by Allstate Scout FTR750) sweeping the podium for the fourth time, with Mees getting his fourth win and eighth straight podium on his way to the 2017 AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines title.
The heartbreak was supplied by AFT Singles competitor Kevin Stollings (No. 99 Roof Systems of Dallas Honda CRF450R) who, coming off a dramatic win-DQ-win performance two weeks earlier at the Red Mile, had his engine explode while locked in a battle with eventual winner Shayna Texter (No. 52 ST52 JCS Racing Husqvarna FC 450) and Tristan Avery (No. 16 Ron Ayers/Mr. Sign Honda CRF450R) for the lead and win with just two laps to go.
The drama is set to play out yet again this coming weekend when the OKC Mile returns to Remington Park. Question is, can Texter and Mees repeat?
